Get More out of Your Dishwashers – 5 Tips on How To Getting a Better Clean

5 Tips on How to Get a Better Wash from Your Machine

You may start to notice that your dishwasher has lost its cleaning power over time. Perhaps it’s because you haven’t been able to use your machine to its fullest! Here are 5 tips on how to turn an OK clean to an Outstanding clean from your dishwasher.

1. Load Your Washer Wisely

Figure out where your dishwasher’s spray arms are located and load accordingly. Place smaller dishes closer and larger pots and pans in the slots further from the spray arms to make sure that they don’t block the reach of the water. It’s also recommended that your more delicate dishes should go on the upper rack while your cookware at the bottom.

2. Less is More

Just because you’re doubling up on the detergent and Rinse Aid doesn’t mean that you’re getting a better clean. While you do want to use a good amount of detergent to get all the grease off your dish, too much detergent will make your dishwasher work harder to rinse your load free of soap and can even cause your dishwasher to deteriorate at a faster rate. So add soap according to your load and how soiled they are. Using just the right amount can go a long way!

3. Heat Things Up

Let the tap run until the water gets hot to the touch right before you start your wash. It may seem counterintuitive, but it actually helps with warming up your first wash cycle. Instead of your dishwasher spending the energy to heat up the water, you can simply pre-heat it so that you get a hot first cycle that will give you a better clean, instead of a cold one, which won’t help with the wash much. Plus you can always save the first bit of water from your tap by using a container!

4. Clean Your Filter

It’s important to take good care of your dishwasher. After a few months of usage, you may start to notice that your dishwasher is louder when it cleans or that it is not performing as well as when you first got it. It might not be your dishwasher’s fault, it could just be time to clean out your filters. Most dishwashers if not all have removable filters. So take it out and give it a good clean to remove any debris that may be caught during the wash. Also be sure to check your drainage to remove any residue. Lastly, run an empty dishwasher with some vinegar in the detergent dispenser to remove odors, grease, and grime!

5. Upgrade to an ENERGY-STAR rated dishwasher

You’d be surprised at how much water you can save on your monthly Bill just by switching to a newer dishwasher. For instance, the Bosch SHE3AR75UC (See more product info here) is one of the most competitive dishwashers available in the market today in terms of reliability and efficiency. It exceeds ENERGY STAR Requirements for Water by 69% and can save up to 280 gallons of water every year. So consider making the switch if your current dishwasher is taking a lot more energy and water to do what it’s supposed to.
